Getting There...

So it turns out I lied about the next update being the big 1.0, but it's been a while since I posted so here's an intermediate update. Besides just a few small tweaks to some animations, the main addition was 10 new levels (!). With this new set, all the necessary tech needed for the latter half of the game should be explored; I did mention that I was going to implement a few new mechanics for the full version, but I will talk about why I'm holding off on this at another time. What this really means is that I'm gonna go full ham on the difficulty in the next set, so, uh, be prepared I guess.

As I've said before, this new set of levels is intercut with the old set in order to even out the learning curve a bit. And since I couldn't find an intuitive way to transfer progress from the previous version to the current one, I've, uh, basically wiped your old save, so you'll have to start from the beginning again. So...to alleviate the hassle of having to replay levels (and also as a reward for reading these devlogs), I'll let you know that there is a secret way to unlock all the levels: if you fumble around the right side of the Level Select Menu, you should find a secret button that'll guide you to the unlock option. Alternatively, the "<" and ">" are still enabled for skipping levels while ingame.

As a refresher, here's what to expect in the next update (hopefully 1.0!):

  • A final set of 20 more levels; these will require use of all the tech learned in the "tutorials" up until now
  • More SFX/music jingles for UI interactions and scene transitions
  • A more satisfying win screen for those who can solve all the levels without skipping
  • Probably no BGM--more about that later

The next update will likely take longer than you think, unless by some miracle I can get it done before Elden Ring is released. So just keep an open ear for any news. As always, thanks for reading!
